Want to Make a Bigger Baby Kimono--Help!

Love the Baby Kimono pattern, but I want to make a larger size, say for a six-month-old or one year-old-baby. Math: not my thing. If any of you brainy knitters can figure this out and post a solution, I'd be thrilled!

Comments:
How about sized for a big girl (ie: 'ME'!!)

Alison: thanks, thanks, thanks! I will give this a try.

The one you did is gorgeous. Thanks so much for taking the time to post.

I have no idea if this would work or not but what about using a heavier yarn and the same instructions? Wouldn't that make a bigger sweater? I just finished my first kimono -- pictures will be posted as soon as I can find ribbon! It's so tiny I'm afraid it won't even fit a newborn! --Sally

Alison:

Thanks for taking the time to tell us how you increased your Kimono! I CO my first Kimono (for the 2nd time) last night and got about an inch and a half knit. I wanted to make a larger version than the one in the book but lack the experience to just wing it, so I was going to stick with the printed instructions. My hope was to have a better understanding of the pattern once I was done and then be able to make a second Kimono in a larger size. Now that I have your insight I am going to scrap what I started last night and go straight into the larger model. Yeah!!! You just saved me some time- a thing, with three young children running around, I have so little of. You rock!

Great idea, Sally! I will try it in a bulkier yarn.

Thanks.

Thank you so much for letting us know, how you made your kimono larger Alison.
I had been wondering also, how to make it larger.
Is there anyone who has made this kimono in a 24 month size?
If so would you mind very much, explaining how to do it?
I'm fairly new to knitting and so, I'd need step-by-step instructions I'm afraid.
Just like you did Alison.
Your instructions are easy to understand, but do you know what age group the larger kimono fit?
Also I keep on forgetting how to tell which is the WS, when doing the garter stitch.
Is the RS (in garter) when the tail from your cast on is at the left on your needle, when it's facing you?
Thank you to anyone, who would know how I could make this kimono in a 24 month size.
I'd be so very grateful for any help, on how to do that.
