Calamari Yarn

i dyed some old t-shirts and ripped them all into strips.

and turned all that into a giant yarn ball weighing in at 5.2 lbs

not sure yet what i'll do with it.

Comments:
I can't say why, but that huge ball just makes me smile. It is so bright and cheerful and well big. Can't wait to see what you make with it :-}

hey thanks all! i used rit dye. i didn't worry too much about it dyeing evenly though since i knew i'd be ripping it into strips.

I've been wondering when we were going to see some of this stuff... I think you are the first - venturing into unknown territory.

I really want a rug too - Just not sure what I could use to make one. I usually (gasp) just throw away the old t-shirts - though I do have a "stack" of jeans... No somebody stop me! I'm already working on three light blue projects! LOL

i had a huge stash of brand new t-shirts that i would get for free over the years that i never could bear just throwing out. so glad i kept them.

That photo of your cat about to take a bite of calamari is too good. I can't wait to see what you make with the yarn.

knitnut -- in response to your questions. the strips are probably about 1/2 inch wide but i didn't measure. and i looped them together as described in the book. some of the loops ripped so i tied small knots. and i randomly choose the colors. i don't know what size needles to use. i have size 17 needles and a size P crochet hook.

Awesome, can't wait to see what you are going to do with it!

I was searching the internet to see if there was errata for the burp cloth from Mason Dixon knitting and google directed me to your blog, but either I have over looked it or the answer isn't here. Can you tell me if there is errata for it?
