Veni, Vedi, Vici!!!

I finally finished my Moderne Baby Blanket!!! WOOOOO HOOOOOOOO! It ended up being about 38" x 46," which is larger than the original pattern (even with my modifications). Block 9 was supposed to be 54 garter ridges, and I stopped at 26 garter ridges. The rest was knit according to the pattern. I hesitated about making the border white (grimy little fingers grasping onto edges and all), but in the end I'm glad that I went with the white. I really like the contrast against the darker colors. It looks framed and, well, finished. I'm so thrilled to be done with this project! I have enough yarn left (I think!) to do a smaller blanket in the same colors, and I'm thinking of trying the log cabin. Do ya'll think I can do a log cabin out of just four colors? Hmmm...

Anyway, here's a picture of my finished product!

P.S. In case anyone is wondering why I chose these apparently random colors, I'll re-post that I'm want to have a nursery (one day!) decorated in black and white toile with accents of other black and white patterns and apple green. Here's a previously posted picture of my blanket with fabric swatches to better illustrate my intent.

It's just gorgeous, Tara. Really beautiful. And you've convinced me to knit one of these blankets. I love the fabric swatches with this blanket, too. It will make a beautiful room! --Sally
NOT kidding - I gasped when I saw this. Absolutely gorgeous. Probably my favorite MD product yet. WOW. This is amazing. Love the colors. Love the border. Love the blanket. Love Love Love this.
Ohh - looks good! This is what I'm working on right now - totally different colors & look than yours. I am still deciding on a border or not. It's great to see a finished version.
I LOVE IT!!! you have done an amazing job!! i really love the contrasting border. great job!
This is so beautiful!!! I absolutely love the colors that you've chosen. They aren't typical baby colors at all.. they look so classy!

You did such a beautiful job! I'm working on a Moderne Baby Blanket at the moment, and I can on;y hope that mine turns out 1/10th as good as yours. Love it!
Looks great -- it will be a great blanket even when the baby isn't a baby anymore.
Oh, how I love to see people use non-trad colours for babies.
Your colour scheme for the nursery is absolutely lovely.
I love the colors! Great job! Look forward to seeing more of your FOs!
Georgeous - what yarn did you use?
Georgeous - what yarn did you use?
I LOVE the apple green. It is my current FAVE color. Your choices will make a BEAUTIFUL nursery. Love the blanket!
I used Caron Simply Soft in the Brites colors (green, white, and black). The heathered gray is just the regular Caron Simply Soft. I actually bought 2 skeins of each color and barely tapped into the the 2nd skeins of most of the colors. I was very surprised, especially since the blanket turned out so much larger than I thought.
Your blanket is beautiful. I love your colorway. It is so beautiful. It will be loved.
I love those colors and think it's great to do it for a nursery! No pastelies for your kiddies! That's great. The blanket looks gorgeous and you're right on with the white border, nothing would have fit any better!
By the way, you can do the courthouse steps blanket with your colors, no problem.
OOOO - AHHH! This just made my day today! It's so beautiful!
Thank you to everyone for your very generous comments! I'm very happy with the way this blanket turned out. I do love non-baby colors for babies. I've convinced myself to do a log cabin blanket out of the yarn I have left, thanks in part to all your supportive comments! I can't wait to see all of your FO's too!
You did a fabulous job, Tara!
I can't wait to see the Log Cabin you're going to do with the remaining yarn.
