to felt or not to felt?

Hello all: actually the subject line is a misnomer as right now I am attempting to felt the below rug (approx 31" by 27" unfelted). I live in fear that this will ruin it (I have to resort to the front-loading machines in my apartment building which do NOT allow one to take anything out before the spin cycle). However, it is too cold to take something like this to the laundromat and bring it back wet...

HELP!!!!!!!!!

Phew, that feels better. Thanks for listening. I post it here because it reminds me of a log cabin blankie (although in actual fact it is lifted from a pattern in Beverly Galeska's Felted Knits Book). Yarn is Brown Sheep Burly Spun (my new favourite).

Regards,

PS. here is the finished product - fears alleviated!

Comments:
It is beautifu! You could not have done a nicer job!

That is great! I do all my felting in a front loader. It sometimes doesn't work, but 95% of the time it does...

Looks great!!

I love that! It looks really great and felted perfectly!

I have had disappointing results felting in a front loader washing machine. I recently read that adding 3 to 5 clean tennis balls providing the good agitation needed. The balls would not be inside the bag where the item was.

It looks great!
