My First Post Too...
OK, so here's my first post here too - Bobbi you inspired me! I have only been knitting since May 8, 2006 and the first class I took at A Yarn Over Marblehead in Marblehead, MA (great store!) Jean mentioned the Log Cabin Blanket in the MDK book - yes, Amazon got my money the next day!
My first project from MDL is this Log Cabin Baby Blanket in K1Ctoo Fleece (OK, bit of a challenge to pick up stitches in for a beginner, but I'm getting there!) I thinking I'll do about 2 more rounds (or more... who knows?)
I'm also working on some felted boxes and I guess, OK, twist my arm... I'll work on some dishrags too!

Your work looks great. I've seen knitters who've been knitting for years and still have problems picking up stitches.
I'm thinking of showing my students the log cabin blanket for a small first project. It could even be a "dishcloth."
