I'm Home!

I received a very kind-hearted gift from my mominlaw of a beginners knitting box. While I'm no expert, I'm certainly beyond the garter stitch scarf so I took it to Barnes & Noble to exchange for yet another knitting book. I came across M&D and figured, what the heck. There's not a single sweater pattern in it, so it's got that going for it. Plus the sense of humor tickled me. Then, of course, I couldn't put it down! Ah, the freedom to do easy stuff! I've been given permission!

But I was a closet-do-it-my-own-way-er already. My cat, like most, loves 'caves'. Under blankets, towels, anything that he can curl up in and watch the world go by. So I decided to knit him a cave. I bought a couple skeins of Cascade wool and messed around till I had this floppy giant hat. Then I knitted a circle (tough to figure out but cool!), attached it to the hat, and felted the heck out of it. Let's just say, Fred doesn't have his cave but I learned a lot and had fun doing it.

We live on a sailboat and sometimes I like just a modicum of privacy so I conceived this portlight cover. I thought about it for a few days, puzzling over just how I would make this work of art. I used a skein of (gasp!) red heart and started knitting. Here's the finished product. Ok, maybe not a work of art but not too bad, right? Riiiiiight? Hubby even thinks it's not bad and you know how men hate change.

FWIW, I'm working on a PC using IE and don't get a box to upload pix either. I get text edit options, a spot to link another site, and 'edit html'. I'm using Photo Jerk to post this pic.

That's strange. I posted a link to the photo but it didn't show up. Hmmm...
You can download firefox for free. Give it a try. I like it much more than IE.
Hi La Donna!
I am very interested in your knit port cover, hope you can upload a photo !!!
We stay on our sailboat sometimes for weeks on end and I too appreciate privacy. DH does not want to put another screwhole in the fiberglass for the readymade shades . . . arrgh!
I'm on my 'puter at work (Mac with Safari) and no luck. Downloaded Firefox, still no luck. What gives?
Man, I'm glad I'm not the only one having "issues" uploading Pics. Thanks for all advice from you, LaDonna, and for the comments from others to my earlier post. Firefox seems to be ok, it does just seems to matter a lot which tab you go to. . . . All I need now is to get a decent photo updated with stuff I and DD have been busy knitting. Enjoyed seeing your port cover!
